What is Baked Cheese?

Grilling cheese, baked cheese, bread cheese, squeaky cheese, juusto, Juustoleipä - There are so many names for this delicious specialty cheese!

This Scandinavian delicacy found its way into the hearts of Wisconsinites and many others around the world! Baked cheese is made to be heated up and devoured, developing a crispy exterior with a warm, melty interior.

Whether you're grilling it, frying it, or giving it a sizzle in a skillet, baked cheese gets crispy on the outside while staying gooey and warm on the inside. Enjoy it however you like – as a main for dinner, a tasty appetizer, a sidekick to your main dish, or even as a sweet treat!

How to Make Smoked Grilled Cheese Sando with Flat Iron Steak & Chimichurri

Grill the flat iron steak until the desired internal temp (around 135 degrees) while smoking the cheese for about 30 minutes at 275 degrees to give it some color and smoke flavor.

While the steak is resting, grill The Big Moo on each side for about 10-15 seconds before placing between two slices of bread and grilling again for another 60-90 seconds.

Slice the steak and add it to the sandwich. Drizzle with chimichurri and serve!
